Two, two Lily’s 2!

We are out of babyhood in the Norwood household.

This sassy girl may as well pack her bags and leave as fast as time is flying.
BloggerImage
She is a little spitfire
BloggerImage
She loves baby dolls (mainly pushing them around in the doll stroller), animals, the movie The Greatest Showman, dancing, her family, and the water - if it’s around in any form she is splashing, pouring, or throwing it.

We did multiple fun things for Lily’s birthday - starting with chocolate milk & a pastry at a downtown coffee shop.
BloggerImage
We then went to the bookstore next door & read some books

and ended up at the splash pad where I forgot to get any pictures.
The next day we went back to the splash pad & to the pool because this was Lily’s birthday celebration and as mentioned - the girl likes water.
The next morning she had her favorite breakfast, Wal-mart brand cinnamon French toast sticks.

She opened her presents with a little help

We then went to church and partied in her Bible Class because as luck would have it our curriculum was on Day 2 of creation.
BloggerImage
Yeah so she wasn’t too happy because she was wearing birthday presents under the dress I pulled on her in the parking lot.
Her little friend Baker seems to be looking at her wondering why she isn’t happy when it’s her birthday & we have donuts?!
That evening we had cake. Lily was the most enthusiastic audience for our singing of the birthday song.

She LOVED blowing out the candle & had us re-light it no less than 8 times. Denver gave her the helpful advice on the first time to "just spit on it to get it out."

Happiest of birthdays Lily - you have been the greatest surprise of my life.

The Scorcher

Annie & I completed our first 5K.  Our training lagged a few weeks before the race because of the end of school but she was such a trooper and did so well - ended up second in her age group.

Our neighbor and friend Ashlynn was there running along.

Cue all the filters for a morning that started at sun-up & no makeup.  :)

Philip did the half marathon and this run is something I hope we will all enjoy together again.

I know my favorite part was getting some extra one on one time while training with Annie.

Dance year 6

Annie did three different types of  dance this year which meant the end of the year recital was a busy event for her back stage.

Before the show in her jazz costume - this was a new class for her.

and ballet.

She is amazing. She had a special part at the end of her ballet dance it did it perfectly. I’m constantly astounded by how she performs seemingly without nerves & does such an outstanding job. She works hard all year & it shows.

Great work sweet girl!

Happy Birthday Philip

You know it’s a wild party when 2 people are running around without shirts!

Cheers to another spin around the sun - it’s such a gift to be the one spending these years with you.

Free at last

Summer has started and we all couldn’t be happier

Although from the above pictures it looks like I have put the kids to work, but really both of those pics are them volunteering (and to be honest it was just for a few minutes) to help with some some outdoor chores that happen in the summer - but aren’t they cute?

Bring on the sunshine, bring on the fun!

Now that’s more like it.

Denver graduates preschool

I feel like I handle the kids growing up well for the most part & then something like this jumps up on me.
BloggerImage
Denver’s little graduation ceremony was really sweet and when they asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up his answer was "Really cool things."
BloggerImage
It’s only appropriate him & Mosi were seated side by side as that is how they have done things for the last 3 years.
What a stroke of luck to find your best buddy that was orginally located halfway around the world from you...I love their little friendship.
BloggerImage
I didn’t grow up with a brother or around little boys but I am so lucky to get this one to raise and I’m already a bit emotional thinking about his next big graduation. (I’m not crying - you’re crying!)

Congrats Denver - getting to watch you learn & grow is such a pleasure.

End of school activities

The last nine weeks of school were a struggle to get through.  We were out 3 days because of a gas leak just a week after getting back from spring break & then the teachers went on strike for the first two weeks in April.

So like Lily in this picture we were barely hanging on as we cruised into the second to last week in May.
BloggerImage
A couple of fun things that happened in the last few weeks was Annie went & read one of Denver’s favorite books to his class.
BloggerImage
Denver was so proud to have her there.  Look at his face. 😊
BloggerImage

Annie also had a special trip to the local gas station to put in to practice her money counting & budgeting skills.
BloggerImage
We came & ate lunch with Annie one last time before I have two kids in all day school 😦

At last we made it to the end!

Having A Great Summer (HAGS) is in our future - let’s get on it.

Ball players

This spring Denver started playing Kball
BloggerImage
BloggerImage
There was a lot of parental guidance (ratio of more than 1 parent to kid :)
BloggerImage
and he really seemed to learn a lot and enjoy himself
BloggerImage
so that’s what it’s all about.
BloggerImage
Annie played softball for the first time
BloggerImage
Just like anything Annie does, she worked hard, did her best, & came away learning a lot.
BloggerImage
These two put in all the effort & were focused working to get better every game & practice.  I am so proud of them.

Vet school open house

One of big the benefits of living in Stillwater are all the fun activities the college puts on.
BloggerImage
This spring we got to go to the Vet school open house.
BloggerImage
The kiddos loved this
BloggerImage
They got to see & pet lots of animals
BloggerImage
do some crafts
BloggerImage
and even pose as animals themselves.

Great outing ...

Easter

Easter was COLD this year.
The kids hunted eggs in jackets because it was freezing outside.

BloggerImage
I didn’t even get pictures of the big kids in the backyard because Lily & I were freezing.

We kept the Easter bunny locked out & just let me fill the basket because Annie &
I decided the Easter bunny is creepy.
